Toughest day so far. Woke up pretty well, as the day went on noticed more bruising away from the site of the operation. Vet trip last night and possible reaction to pain meds which is causing extra bruising. A lot more unsettled during the afternoon and night and has to be closely monitored for any changes. Still wants to eat and have cuddles. Only way is up from here. His brother Hamish is very concerned, and you can see it in the way he acts around him. Any advice on what to expect in the coming days will be wonderful!
Day 3 – 5 is typically hard – the hospital meds are coming out of her system. Keep in touch with your vet. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to get the pain meds right – it is very individual to each dog. Be day 6, you should have your meds balanced and when the staples come out about day 10, you usually see remarkable improvement. And it just keeps getting better from there. She looks like she I’d doing a good job standing and getting around. Hopefully the bruising will get better too – I have seen several members post that it got worse and then started to get better. Sounds like you are right on track. Sleep and cuddles are the best thing for her!
